I Savor the Sweetness of Life

November 18, 2021

As we journey through this linear timeline from cradle to grave, there are uncountable shades of emotion that accompany us. These are the ingredients we mix together based on our experiences and what we allow in possibility during our time on earth.

Sweetness is a very rare sensation for most of us. Sweetness comes from the heart, so the heart must be open to experience it fully. It is usually centered in a moment when we recognize the uniqueness of a particular combination of time, space and objects. After our loved ones pass and we can no longer be physically with them, memories of moments spent together become almost unbearably sweet. The triggers are vast and surround us with an amazing abundance of opportunities to taste the particular flavor of that one moment. Pets are great triggers and when they look at you with that heart melting expression in their eyes, it is a very sweet moment indeed. Nature awaits with a vast multitude of offerings that never come again, such as each bloom on a flower, each leaf on a tree, the smell of the ocean or a brand new morning, each a sweet treat that we can savor throughout the day.

Some people have closed off the sweetness receptors. They have learned that having an open heart leaves them vulnerable to rejection or pain that comes from some other frequency that is sharp and harsh. There is a learning curve that teaches us to enjoy the sweetness and allow the others to keep their own personal frequencies without feeling rejected or bitter. This is an art that we as a civilization need to cultivate.

When some people have a relationship to the Divine, they feel entitled to use that as a measuring rod for everyone else’s experience. The problem with this position is that God is All in All, so is therefore present in all the sides, all the opinions, all the decisions, all the rejections, all the anger, even hatred and that is why Jesus asked forgiveness for those who crucified Him on the cross. “Please forgive them for they know not what they do”. When we hold space for all the people in our lives who don’t know who they are or that they are already part of the Divine, we find a special freedom and sweetness just in releasing them.

There is only one life shared by all. God is expressing whatever we express in that moment because there is no life outside of God and if we don’t know that, we can be fooled into thinking we are separate and that there is a place where God is and God isn’t. That is not possible and even though we make our bed in hell, God is present there.

Sweetness is allowing a completely open heart that doesn’t find reasons to close based upon others’ actions.

We can choose sweetness if that is what we want to experience, the choice is ours to choose whatever emotional blend we wish to experience. Sweetness is not doormat material, it is a recognition that this moment will never come again and it acknowledges our recognition of a particular flavor that can never be reproduced. Each moment, special and unforgettable in its own flavor, all of Nature waits to share these moments with us. What a gift! What’s your pleasure today?
