With Animals
COME ACTIVATE YOUR INNER WILD CHILD
Brush a horse, feed a goose, pet an alpaca, snuggle a dog, and watch the chickens peck.
And coming soon…alpaca walks!
Studies at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine have been focusing on the fact that interacting with animals may increase people’s level of the hormone oxytocin. Oxytocin has powerful effects on the body’s ability to heal, grow new cells, and predisposes us to a healthier bodily environment in general. Since the late 1970’s studies have proven the benefits of human/animal interaction. Animal therapy has been used to treat troubled children as well as many other mental disorders. It appears to be beneficial to both the animal and the human.
Our alpacas, horse, llamas, sheep, chickens, and dogs are people-friendly and love to play. There are also a large variety of wild animals that may be viewed from a distance at times. Raccoons, beavers, opossums, rabbits, deer, as well as many species of birds, including a large blue heron, ducks, swallows, eagles, hawks and many others, make their home on the farm. All of the animals (except the wild ones) are rescues.
Whatever you choose, you’ll reconnect with yourself, engage in play, and ignite your inner light.
